How to reach Jwalaji Temple

Himachal Pradesh is also known as Land of Gods. Kangra District in Himachal for many ancient Temples like Brajeshwari Temple, Kunal Pathari Temple, Chitpurni Mata temple, Chamunda Devi Temple and Jwalaji Temple. The famous temple of Shaktipeeth Jwalamukhi is only about 34 km from Kangra and 53 km from the famous hill statuion Dharamshala.

Jwalaji Temple is visited by thousands of devotees every day to seek blessings from the Goddess. Dedicated to the "GODDESS OF LIGHT", the temple is one of the most popular Hindu temples in northern India.

Why the name Jwalaji because when you reach inside the temple you will find no idol of any kind, but only the flame is considered as a manifestation of the goddess. An eternally burning and shining blue flame emanates from the rock sanctum and is fed by the priests with the offerings of devotees.

The golden tower (dome) of the temple was a gift from the Emperor Akbar. Two important fairs are held here during the Navratras in earlier March/April and September/October.

There are many hotels and Sarai near Jwalaji for good and comfortable stay. You can also stay at the Himachal Topurism operated HPTDC hotels with modern facilities for visitors to the shrine.

Jwalaji is well connected by buses from Delhi, Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana and Jammu. Buses are available every 15 minutes from Kangra and Una to Jwalaji. Una is the nearest broad gauge Railway station.  Gaggal Airport is the nearest airport.

regular buses are available from Dharamshala to Jwalaji, Chamunda and Palampur to Jwalaji.
